Our Blackboard site is organized into weekly folders. Each week begins on Monday, and assignments are due by Sunday night at 11:59 pm. Except for the in-class assignments on Tuesdays, all assignments will be submitted on Blackboard.
You will need to do quite a bit of independent work (outside of class) in order to learn the material and get a good grade. A good rule of thumb is that you should spend two hours outside of class per credit per week. Since this class is 4 credits, you should plan to spend 6-8 hours on your own studying the material and working on Bio 14 assignments every week.
In each weekly folder you will find:
- Learning objectives, which define the new knowledge and skills you will acquire
- Learning resources, including videos, readings, slides, and websites
- Assignments, including in-class and independent assignments, lab reflections, exams, and a project
Your goal is to master the learning objectives each week, using the learning resources and assignments I’ve provided.
Here is a suggested study schedule. Keep in mind that you should plan to spend 6-8 hours doing independent study each week. Of course you can adjust this to fit your own schedule, but the important thing is to make yourself a schedule and stick to it. The graded items (3 to 4 per week) are highlighted in bold.
